Sir Alfred Hitchcock, who was arguably the greatest filmmaker ever, hit artistic paydirt with his trifecta of back-to-back masterpieces: Vertigo (1958), North by Northwest (1959) and Psycho (1960). Psycho is Hitchcock’s scariest film, North by Northwest is his most out-and-out entertaining picture and Vertigo is the Master of Suspense’s most poignant and romantic work.
